FOr every person with a story like you there is someone else that bought one for $50 5 years ago and it's still working. This is why reviews generally suck. Also I might buy a Kenmore that lasts 6 years (I did) and yours might die in a week.

I guess I must be one of those idiots you refer to.
Maybe. Did you ever right a review like this:
It does the job. Nothing special. No bells and whistles.

3 Stars. You bought a cheap Microwave...that does everything you want...but it's nothing special so 3 stars...

Yeah. Amazon. I've written a couple like that (although I tend to be more verbose, as you might imagine).

iv'e always favored sharp microwaves. disclaimer this was back in the 90's to early 2000's. i can't tell you what there reliability is like now. and i have always favored panasonic microwaves with the inverter tech there reliable to. though i only bought countertop models it works. and i have always bought the big family sized units with the 1250 watts for fast cooking vs a 700 watt unit, my first microwave was a hotpoint single dial timer job with 500 watts talk about slow

DO NOT BUY LG or SAMSUNG it's crap!!!

Read a review this weekend that made me think of this thread.

For an oven:
"It didn't fit in my house! I had to return it!" 1 STAR

Really? YOU order THE WRONG SIZE THING.... and rate 1*
What is wrong with people?
