Hey everyone. So I'm an amateur rocket guy and I've been looking for either 1 camera or a set of outdoor cameras that are somewhat high speed. What I would like is a color video, fairly high speed, mountable, I don't want to take it in and out, I want to be able to mount it at my launch site and just leave it. I also want to be able to hook a laptop up to it fairly easily, whether usb, wifi, or whatever is fine. Last I am on a budget, so it can't be terribly expensive. I have a security system at my work and I considered just buying one for my launch site, but the fps is pretty bad and the video gets jumpy easy. Ive only found a few cameras like what I want and they are both over $10K , way too expensive for me. I figured there must be a more consumer friendly model that is much cheaper. I may end up just buying a decent video camera and using a tripod if nothing else.

B&H is the site for camcorders, quick search brings this one up for $1K:

Sony FDR-AX53 4K Ultra HD Handycam Camcorder FDRAX53/B B&H Photo

120FPS with resolution of 1080P. That's 4 or 5 times as fast as standard video shot at 24 or 30 FPS.

This is not recommendation, check the reviews and see if you can find some sample footage.

The other option is Canon DSLR, they make phenomenal video but I don't know if they have any models with really high frame rates. If they do it's probably going to be better models and really expensive.

For about $20 you can get a spycam that mounts on the rocket payload. IIRC, X-heli has something like that. I'm not aware of inexpensive high frame-rate cameras.

GoPro 4 shoots 1080P at 120FPS or 4K video at 30FPS for $499. I mount a GoPro on my R/C helis.

I've decided on the GoPro. They are quite impressive.

You won't regret that decision.
BTW - the GoPro 4 has an all-glass lens, which is an important factor when comparing cameras.
