After scouring CL using almost every keyword and contacting everyone remotely around my price range/area I've narrowed it down to three options and am racking my head trying to decide. So much help would be appreciated

First up a little background:

So ive been looking for a tv in the 28-32 inch range

I know between 720 and 1080 there typically isnt much of a difference at 32 inches but i sit around 4 feet or less from my tv since my on the same desk I usually do work on

Ill also mainly use the tv for streaming vids from my laptop or playing the ps3 (but would also want a future proof tv for ps4 i might get in the future)

Alright so enough talking here are the three options.

Amazon.com: Samsung UN32J4000 32-Inch 720p LED TV (2015 Model): Electronics

The sharp and the 720p samsung I can buy for 50 and 40 respectively (I have to drive 30miles)

Samsung 1080p for 50 (but i have to drive 62 miles)

I guess the question is should I even consider the sharp considering it's older if I want to save the distance or should I got with the lower res samsung that is cheaper and newer

OR should I drive the extra 60 miles round trip for the samsung 1080 for 50

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

They sell 24" TVs with 1080p. For normal watching you wouldn't think the higher resolution would be worthwhile in such a small screen.
Amazon.com: LG Electronics 24LF4820 24-Inch 1080p Smart LED Television/Monitor (2016 Model): Electronics

But for game playing or as a computer monitor, it helps to have the best possible resolution. So yes, I think it is worth driving the extra half hour.

Samsung has 5 grades of TV's. Series 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000. Each increase in series is a better TV and has more features. 4000 and 5000 series are entry level and priced accordingly.

I would always take Samsung or LG over other makes, including Sharp, for the best quality and reliability.

Samsung over Sharp (new Sharps are Sharp in name only and are actually Hisense, this started a few months ago), but Samsung over old Sharp as well but at 32 inches the difference aint that great...1080p over 720p...Should you go an extra 60 miles for the Samsung 1080p? Who knows? That's the best TV of the 3 but driving that far is personal preference.

Samsung > Sharp
1080p > 720p

But not really that big a deal (especially if its really Sharp and not a rebadged Hisense) for a cheap, used 32 inch TV.

samsung the best quality that's a laugh!!! id'e ditch the samsung and the LG and go with a sharp since i have a 60 inch sharp in my bedroom and it turns on and works after three years vs my samsung that's under 3 years old and has lines going down it and the worst possible customer service that you could ever imagine. i had an LG plasma that only lasted three years before it gave out as well as an LG microwave that didn't even make it to the 2 year mark before getting a mind of it's own.. LG and samsung suck

One thing I have experienced is that smart TV apps pale in comparison to set top box or game console apps. At least on Vizios. If you're going to use the TV for gaming, you probably don't need a smart TV, just one that does one thing well, which is having a great picture. If you're sitting fairly close to it, you probably want to make sure the TV is 1080P. Other than that, the smart apps are hit or miss.

i could care less about the apps myself. they should just give you a usb dongle for wifi and let you download what ever apps you want

Rankings of LCD, LED, and plasma TV brands. LG, Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony TVs have consistently been among the top performers in our Ratings over the last few years.
Best TV Brands | Top TV Brands - Consumer Reports
I have Panasonic & Samsung TV's, never a problem with any of them.

Everyone I've known that has a Sharp has had some problem at one time or another.
Sharp has sold its Mexican TV factory to Hisense, as well as the right to use Sharp branding on the TVs it sells in America.
