I'm wanting to update the whole phono cartridge on my Audio Technica LP-120 record player, but I don't necessarily need to get the very best cartridge. I do want something that will bring out a better, richer, sound of the records. I don't really want to spend more than $300 on cartridge, but I want something that is going to be an obvious improvement over what I have. Any audiophiles out there that can direct me to some choices? I also need some opinions on some monitors/speakers for the turntable. My wife won't let me bring in the huge floor speakers I used to use - which sounded fantastic! So, I need some smaller, speakers that still bring out a great sound for vinyl as well as anything else home audio wise. Again, I am not looking to spend a grand or anything like that. Just something that will make the audio a bit more enjoyable.
grado is good they have many models well below $300.
