Hi, I live in an apartment, have been using 5 channel inexpensive surround sound systems. My current one is a decade old and been purchased for about $250. Looking for good sound that does not disturb the neighbors. It's a large living room, so one possibility is placing the sound system/speakers closer to the sitting area.

Not sure what you're asking exactly ? Recommendations for a 5.1 system for $250 or less including AV receiver ? How large is your large LR?

I am looking for ideas, I can afford to spend $2,500 on a boze system as well. Living room is 21 by 13. boze sells 2 speaker systems, and right now I am wondering if I can use that to replace my old 5 speaker setup.

There is such a thing as "directional speaker" which concentrates all the sound on a specific chair, and won't disturb your neighbor at all.
