A few days ago I bought a Samsung UHD 4K TV with Smart Remote. Set up was a breeze, until I realized the smart remote will not control the Comcast box. It only controls the TV volume, won't change the channels.
Called Samsung and the short of it is the smart remote will not control the Comcast box.

Seems the consensus is to reprogram the Comcast remote to operate the new TV. Bummer because the smart remote is so much smaller and I have to use it to access the apps.

Thought I would share this in case anyone was going to buy a new Samsung TV.

The problem isn't the Samsung remote. It's the proprietary Comcast remote. Same crap with DirecTV. You have to use the one from DirecTV, and it's pitiful compared to my universal that worked perfectly with Mediacom, but won't with DirecTV. I have a name for people that think proprietary is okay, but I can't put it here.

I have a Samsung and I have DISH but I also have an antenna for all the sub channels that DISH doesn't carry. So I use the TV remote to change input, watch local prime and sub channels and get the program guide. There is SAT, TV, DVD, AUX buttons on the top of the DISH remote but I've never tried using them.

I hear you. Comcast is only too willing to tell me how to program their remote to my new TV,but not the other way around. Shame too cause the Samsung remote smokes the Comcast one.

Your "old names" remotes won't control a Comcast or DirecTV receiver either. They are proprietary.
