I use a brother for ink jet use, because it sits there ready with no appreciable warm-up time and for one-off printing and special papers it suits the bill.

For any serious printing, I use my old Oki color laser, which has been solid for about fifteen years.

The one thing I am finding with the brother that is annoying is that the uvula sensor that detects paper jams misreads from time to time, forcing me to open the printer up and twiddle the dangle, which I imagine as somewhat like trying to harvest semen from a guinea pig.

I threw my recently purchased Epson out when I discovered much the same as the OP, and it began having a clog issue.

We have 2 HP Envy's and one HP laser, never a problem. Our 2 Brothers went sour after 1 year.

I own three or four of these, and they seem to work with any networkable printer.
