Five year old Samsung HD TV. Hooked up to Directv. 90% of what we watch is recorded on the DVR, and I'm honestly not sure if this occurs when we watch live.

DH listens to TV wearing wireless headphones while I listen through the Sonos sound bar made for TV's. I'm experiencing intermittent sound gaps (silence when people are talking) in the audio. DH gets the full audio without any gaps thru his headphones. If I stop the replay, back it up and replay, the gaps are gone (so it's not the DVR).

Headphones are connected to the Directv unit (not directly to the tv).

Any idea what might be causing this? It does seem to be occurring more and more frquently.

I've disconnected the Sonos and the problem persists even with the audio coming through the tv. And I've determined that it DOES NOT occur when watching live TV.

Only occurs on playback from the DVR but not on DH's headphones. I'm stumped.

Check your audio settings on your receiver. It could be set to surround sound and might explain why you can't hear the voice. That's a big maybe. Set it to stereo and see if it keeps happening.

Well, obviously there is something wrong with the audio connector between DVR and TV. Since your wife is not having audio problems directly connected to DVR. Try to connect the sonos whatever that is using the same audio connector you used on TV directly to DVR and if there is no gaps. Then it's your TV audio input that's broken.

Do you mean the Directv receiver or the audio setting on the TV itself?

DirectTV receiver. Which brings up another question...

How do you have your DirectTV receiver connected to your TV?
What type of cable?
