It almost makes me want to buy a roomba and put it on a treadmill.

"This guy has a living room 18" wide and 3 miles long!!!"

This is getting a little bit out of hand, they quote in the article the CEO saying they won't be giving out the information without the owners consent. How much you want to bet it's opt out or buried in some agreement somewhere like the TOS/EULA for their site and/or update software?

I say this with trepidation because od past debacles like COPPA but we need government action on this. Any device or software that will be be used to collect data on you and sold to a third party should be opt in. That opt in should be separate than any EULA, TOS or whatever.

Geez. This Roomba issue's been alarming a lot of owners already. I hope they get to fix this soon or my house won't get cleaned for a while.

Fix what? It's not a bug, it's doing what they designed it to do.

I read that only the most recent models of Roomba have the mapping feature. The 800 series and down don't.

My Roomba is old and doesn't have that feature.

From what I understand, the VSLAM maps the new Roombas make are not actual photographs of the interior of the house. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/5...d-maps-a-home/
