Starting on a little project of mine to make a "party" speaker out of a few spare parts. If you don't know what one is, it's basically just a larger bluetooth speaker that's capable of getting much louder.

I'm still gathering parts but I've decided to use an existing home sub as my enclosure. I'm gutting the internal amp but keeping the 10" subwoofer to dish out the lows. I have an old car component set that I'll use for the mid/woofers and tweeters. These will be side mounted to the enclosure with the sub front firing. The amplifier and BT unit will power the smaller speakers with a max 50w x 2 and a seperate 200w amp for the sub.

To power this on the go, I have a 12v 10ah sealed lead acid battery coming in and this will be stepped up to 24v for the small amp and 36v for the bigger one. While I could have gone with Li-Ion or Li-Po batteries, a SLA battery is much cheaper for the same amount of capacity. They're much larger and heavier but space shouldn't be an issue and the casters and handle I'm putting on will make transporting it easier.

It isn't going to win any SQ awards but I think it'll get much louder while still sounding better than many of the premade units out there. I'll update with my progress if I get enough interest.
