Hi guys, I need some help here. Our 2017 Lexus GX has gotten keyed down the entire driver side twice in less than two weeks. We got it repaired the first time but this time it's way too deep and it cannot be fixed. What concerns us is obviously it's happening and they've come back again. Only our car in our apartment complex parking area. Is there any type of camera I can put in the car to record at night when he comes home and parks it?? I'm documenting everything but again, this person has returned a 2nd time. We are hoping it's not going to escalate from here. TIA

Might find an idea here

Can a dash cam be used for a home CCR?

Dash cams are only limited by the size of the memory you put in them. However, once you know who is doing it, your legal options are somewhat limited, especially if it a kid with no money.

Will it drain the battery and can it be used when the car isn't running? This is occurring overnight. Money isn't a problem here-I want to figure out who's doing it.

As far as a kid with no money-we live in an expensive complex. There's no kids here-only working/retired adults. The only kids living near my building are under 10 years old. There's no teenagers and IF it was a kid-I'd sue the parents.

"An expensive complex" ?

Unless there is a 6 foot fence and monitored entrance gates.......Any body can walk in.

Alarms do not get anybody's attention, any more. Don't believe me ? What do YOU do when you hear one ? Nothing, I bet.

One solution... sell the 2017 vandal magnet, and buy a 2010. Pay cash for the older one, pay less for insurance and be happy.

XX.

Just buy one of these https://smile.amazon.com/Charger-RAV...ighter+charger

and run a usb cable to the GoPro. Unless you have an unusual car you will get power when the car is not running.

The camera takes so little power it won't drain the battery.

You will find all sorts of uses for a GoPro.
