I still buy CDs. Probably about 50 per year.

But never from Best Buy. They haven't carried any band I'd be into in a long time.

Bought three the other month, oldies, Chuck Barry, Tom Jones, another.

The thing is that being out in the country makes it, if it isn't in my hot little hand, rather impossible.

The other thing is about CDs is that with the live music bands I listen to, such as Tartanic, that is how they make their bread and butter.

I cannot remember the last time I bought a CD at Best Buy but I buy CDs frequently as I rip the music to my desktop computer and then keep the disc as my physical backup. Fortunately I have a great local music, movie and book chain store near my house called Bull Moose Music. An additional benefit is that browsing at Bull Moose is enjoyable in and of itself. They have a great atmosphere in there. A couple of times a month I will pop in there for an hour or so on a weeknight; sometimes I buy a little, sometimes I buy a lot and sometimes nothing at all.

As long as you are thinking of Salem NH and not Salem MA then you got it.

Yeah, that's the one. I figured as much- as it was a bit obvious to me. Just like your moniker.

I always found Best Buy to be weak on not only the CDs and DVDs but also computer components. I have been big on building my own personal computers since the late 1990's and I always ended up using Tigerdirect.com or Newegg.com even if I wanted to buy the components locally. My part of the country does not have Fry's nor the revived CompUSA.

There should be some good deals out there. Reminds me of when they were selling old Atari 2600 cartridges for 99 cents at Revco.

Any music that I would buy on CD or vinyl has to be ordered online anyway. Most of the music I listen to is not carried in any store that I know of.

Sign of the times. The CD section at Best Buy has been pathetic for over a decade now anyway. I buy all my CDs online or at the local stores so it won't impact me at all.
