Sony TV KV -27-XBR 51-picture problem-thumping helps
Beloved tv has new problem- when I turn it on, the sound comes on and picture is either black with razor thin color. If I thump side of tv the picture comes in and will stay perfect( well sometimes it takes a few thumps). Picture without thumping seems squashed vertically and flipped over. I'd like to keep this tv. Please advise what to do.

Actually, that's called a "Fonzarelli Fix" after the Fonz (Happy Days) started Jukeboxes by hitting them on the side. Thumping: Free. Knowing where to thump: $500.

I was going to say some of your input connections are loose - at the cable, HDMI, or whatever - but squased video...sounds like a you got a bad TV. Even the Fonz thump won't fix it forever. I would return it while it's still under warranty.
