I recently changed from my old cable service to Dish Network. Although the programming is adequate what I miss most is the rapid speed in which I was able to channel surf on my old cable service. Dish Network does have the drop down menu in which it allows you to see (read) whats on other channels which can be done quickly. But actually visualizing whats on the channel and surfing is something I miss. It takes what like two seconds to go from one channel to another. Anyone know of a fix other than swithcing back to my old cable service?

Dish Network uses two, sometimes four different satellites depending on your package. Each satellite requires a different LNB that has to be switched every time you change the channel. They used to use a separate switch mounted below your dish. They are now built into the fancy quad LNB's. Anyhow, they operate the same way. Everytime you change channels that switch has to operate.

If you plan on keeping Dish, you really should get used to using the electronic program guide to make your decisions. If you keep flipping through the channels, you are going to prematurely wear out that switch. Then you will be paying for a service call because you will only have some of your channels when the switch gets stuck on one satellite.

If you feel like doing some research, Google DP-44, Dish 1000.4, or DishPro quad LNB.
