Odds are, from what you describe, the building itself is probably wired for cable, and they're just getting you the descrambler box. Mine comes with DVR so that I can record shows for later viewing. It's all just coax connections, unplug from one and plug into the other one.

Cable TV lines run on the utility poles and go into each house, you may already be wired for it, if not they'll get you wired for it. The TV swap is a simple task, just disconnect and reconnect the cable you'll have running to the wall or the STB.
