This problem is driving me crazy because I want to plug in my CD player and a small fan at my office desk but always get sidetracked by this
there is a big surge protector with multiple outlets on my office desk in back of the computer. The printer, monitor are plugged into the surge protector which is plugged into the wall.
there are still several available outlets available on the surge protector but they are marked "adaptor". when i try to plug in 2 pronged plugs(such as the memorex combo cassette CD/cassette player) on this surge protector they don't seem to fit. or maybe i had the plugs in upside down
i plugged my cellphone charger into this surge protector but the screen did not say "charging". nothing appeared to work
maybe i'm missing something, but can 2 pronged plugs still fit into 3 prong outlets on extension blocks or surge protectors?
They should fit. Most plugs are polarized (one leg bigger than the other). Adapters (wall warts) often aren't, since they lead directly to a transformer. It is possible the mfg. got sockets that don't fit polarized plugs. In that case, since the load is so light, I'd just plug a cheap multi-socketed extension cord into one of the outlets that does work.
You can solve the fan problem by running a fan off the computer's USB.
