Does anyone know how to remove songs from an IPOD? I do want to keep them on my desktop.

I'm assuming you do the automatic updating for your ipod. Meaning when you connect it to your computer it automatically adds new songs or deletes songs that you have removed from i-tunes. I think there are two ways you could go about deleting the songs from the ipod w/out deleting them from your computer. One option, that i use is to set up your ipod for manual updates, so you chose what's on your ipod and what's not. Otherwise i would try and move the song you want delete (but keep on the computer) out of itunes to a different folder........i'm not really sure if this would work. I always update my ipod manually because i don't want all those songs clogging up and slowing down my computer. The songs i add to itunes i import into my ipod manually, then i back my songs up onto an external hard-drive and then delete them from my computer. I hope this helps. If you are having a hard time setting up your ipod manually go to itunes help. This took me a while to figure this out, but now that i have it's great. Hope it works!

My IPod gives me nothing but trouble. Make sure you register your IPod online. I did and when my hold button broke, I took it to the Apple store and they just handed over a brand new one. They were very nice about it. They said it was because it was registered. But now on itunes I am having trouble. It used to be that when you went to import a CD, you selected the songs. But now, ALL the songs get downloaded with no manual selection. What am I doing wrong?

Go into Itunes then Edit then Preferences then Advanced then Import. The top option is On CD Insert, scroll down to Ask to Import CD (You probably have it set to import when it's inserted), from there you can uncheck anything you don't want loaded to itunes and then hit import manually.

Become friends with iTunes. It makes managing your iPod so much easier. It is a great software and very user-friendly. It rocks!

Hope that you are able to fix your issue with it

Enjoy!

I don't know because it starts importing automatically as soon as I insert the disc. But I am not to computer savy, so I know it's me.

That's because you set it to "sync." I always set my iPods to "manual." This way I decide what goes in or out of the iPod, not the iPod and iTunes. If you have a teenager in the house who uses an Ipod, let him or her show you how it's done.
