Default Moving to Middle TN- Near Cookeville area

Moving to the area in about 6 months- can anyone tell me about the Cookeville area? Would like to live within 30 minutes or so of that area. Are there any nice areas to look at that have good schools? I have a child in middle school. I am looking to spend $150,00 or less but want an area that has little crime. Any information that anyone can give me on towns in this area would be greatly appreciated.

We live in Florida but have a home about 20-30 min East of Cookeville in Overton County. Beautiful area and very low crime. (we are on top of the news) Muddy Pond is a small community not far from us that I would look into. The area has a lot of Menonites / Amish families with high family morales. A lovely area.
You can search back a little on this forum. There is a thread that was started for Monterey TN. Although we don't actually live in Monterey, which is Putnam County as is Cookeville...it is our address. Does that make sense? Any way ther is some info there as well.
By the way. Do you happen to be from Florida? Lutz maybe?
