I wouldn't be surprised if the "nice supermarket" is actually Walmart Neighborhood Markets (Walmart's standalone grocery store).

UGH I sure hope not. I certainly don't consider those to be "nice" plus Cookeville already has 2 Walmart supercenters and a Sam's Club. Please for all that's holy I hope Walmart does not open up one of their neighborhood markets in Cookeville.

The person who said "nice supermarket" has Publix filet mignon taste...I don't think he/she would be describing anything owned by Wal*Mart as nice.

Harris Teeters...that would be awesome...but I can't imagine a Harris Teeters in Cookeville before Publix.

Although, Kroger has bought out Harris Teeter, so maybe Kroger sees the need for a nicer grocery store in Cookeville and will put a Harris Teeter there to ward off Publix?

Kroger Marketplace. I don't want furniture....I want Publix. Rumor is Kroger picked up option on land near 111 and Old KY Rd.

Are there any rumors about the large plot of land that was just leveled on 135 just south of I-40?

That is depressing.

But I'm going to hold hope that this rumor is just an empty rumor. The only place where Old Kentucky Road intersects Hwy 111 is in White County near the airport, and I can't imagine in a million years Kroger building a huge Marketplace out there.

But the thought of another Kroger in Cookeville just turns my stomach.

Whoops....my error....I meant to type near 111...it's the land at 10th and Old KY Rd. Apologies. Certainly would stave off Publix.
