Default "Celebrate Tennessee" in Baxter today and tomorrow

"(We want) to get across the spirit of Tennessee," said Jeanie Lee of the Baxter Beautification Committee. "We're not going to give up, whether it's a tornado, whether it's a flood like what happened in Nashville or losing jobs. We re-think and start back in again. Tennessee is known for that. We're volunteers. When there are disasters, we volunteer, we do fundraisers. That's our spirit."

The Celebrate Tennessee ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, in front of Baxter City Hall. On the program are presentations from Lee, Mayor Jeff Wilhite and State Representative Ryan Williams, as well as prayer by Baxter Police Chaplain Tim Sharp and participation by the Baxter elementary, middle and high schools.

One of the key presentations will be McDonald Craig's performance of his self-written song, "My Home, Tennessee."
