I stopped at "Cook Out" today as well. Like JMT stated, the lines were long but I attribute that to the restaurant being new and normal Friday traffic on Jefferson Ave at lunch time. Add Christmas coming up to the increase of traffic today. The dual lanes and windows made the wait short. The burger had that back yard, patio BBQ flavor that I enjoy. My drink of choice was "Cheerwine". This place will be on my list of lunch time favorites.

While waiting for my turn to order I witnessed an automobile accident on Jeff Av. It happened in the north bound lanes and it involved three vehicles rear-ending each other. Nobody was hurt.

That is classic! But seriously, every time I've been there this week, both of their drive-thru lines were at least 10 cars long. Yesterday I was there at about 2:30pm and the line really did go all the way out into Scenic Drive and on to Jefferson. The manager who was directing traffic in the parking lot said it's pretty much like that from the moment it opens until it closes. I turned around and left. But I'm tickled that it's doing so well, and I'm sure I'll try it again later this week. I still think they should've had indoor seating.

Yep. And he's gonna have to be relying on me and his friends to get it for him for the next few weeks. Having shoulder surgery this afternoon and won't be able to drive for the next 2-3 weeks. Bad timing for him. But, for the positive side, he just got an email that he got into the honors program at UT next year. Very proud.

I still haven't had a chance to get to Cookout yet, hopefully sometime this week.

It is a shame that Cookout doesn't have at least some outdoor tables for their patrons. They are giving up a lot of business to motorcycle enthusiasts, of which there are many in the area, especially with the biker events slated for Cookeville next year. This is the first Cookout I've been to so I don't know if their other locations have customer seating or not.

Cookout started as just a drive-thru, but many of the newer ones have indoor seats. Of their two locations in Knoxville, one is a drive-thru and one has a lobby. I think they made a huge mistake by building just a drive-thru in Cookeville.

Maybe if the drive thru keeps doing so well they will build another one with seating inside

Its more cost effecient for them to have two restaurants nearby for delivery of food, etc.

The Nashville Business Journal reported that a Nashville businessman has purchased the franchise rights for the restaurant Tom + Chee and plans to open locations in metro Nashville, Clarksville, and Cookeville. The article is behind a paywall so I can't post a link. Has anyone ever tried Tom + Chee? Their menu looks awesome!
