I have heard secondhand that hundreds of thousands of square feet of retail is in the works for our area...this fits the bill. No apparent Target...grocery at the end...and of course...Interstate Drive wins again.....

Summer 2015 seems fairly quick.

Whoa, where did you find this? That looks great! I always thought that area is prime real estate for a big shopping center. It looks like it'll take some of that dumpy trailer park, too, which might explain why the trailer park is pretty much empty right now.

And yeah, summer 2015 seems awfully soon which means maybe they already have some tenants lined up.

If you go to their main web site, they show pictures of Publix, Academy Sports, and Target. The site plan for Shoppes at Eagle Point doesn't show anything large enough to be a Target, but there's definitely a grocery store space and something that could be an Academy Sports. Dare we hope for a Publix??

50000 would be small for a Publix, but would fit more in the likes of a Whole Foods or Trader Joes.

Well, if all works out, it will be opening about the time we will be moving to Cookeville (shooting for Summer of 2015). Something else to look forward to. I have heard of Publix but have never been to one. What are the differences between them and Kroger? Any other grocery chain(s) to compare it to?

Actually, that's about average for Publix. They have stores as small as 28,000 square feet and as large as 61,000 square feet. The Publix in Farragut is 49,000 square feet.

For starters, Publix doesn't have those really irritating loyalty cards. Also, the stores are spotless. It's employee-owned. Their bakery is top notch, particularly their pastries and Cuban bread. Before they opened in Knoxville, I had friends in Knoxville who would drive all the way to Chattanooga for some Publix chocolate cake and key lime pie. Their deli is also very good and has wonderful sub sandwiches. Publix brands are of very high quality. Their motto is, "Where shopping is a pleasure." And it's true.

In Florida Publix has gotten so popular that people often say, "I'm going to run to Publix to pick up some milk" instead of, "I'm going to run to the store to pick up some milk."

Oh yeah when I lived in Atlanta I worked near the Publix in Vinings. I was there at least once a week for a sub. Publix brand ice cream is also as good or better than just about any other brand. Publix also has a much larger selection of international foods, and by international I mean more than just Mexican and Indian.

I wonder how this group came up with the name "Eagle Pointe"?

Almost stopped at that Publix yesterday. My son & DIL used to live about a 1/2 mile from that store, now live in Mableton and I saw the sign from 285 and was going to go in and get something for the ride home. My daughter & I went down for the day to see our 4 month old grandson/nephew.

That's probably the nicest Publix I've ever seen, certainly the largest. I like going to that one, too, when I'm passing through Atlanta just because it's such a nice store. And congrats on the grandson!
