Margaret- don't let the online aps stop you, either. Home Depot does the same. Have him follow up his online ap by going in to see if there were ANY openings, AND try to meet the manager and tell him you want even just a part time in any dept. That will show initiative. My hubby did that with HDEPT - it worked.

ps - Hubby said ask for the "Human Resource" person if you go back to Lowe's. Ask to directly speak to him/her. Show him/her that you are eager for a job.

I know for a fact that Averitt hires people every week. Would your husband be interested in driving? Like someone else said, ONLINE applications is quite NORMAL these days.

Thanks so much for the kind encouragement. We have started doing that and have had a better response. Just trying to keep a good attitude and get through the winter. I know that the economy is very bad everywhere, maybe just now wasn't the time to make any sort of a move, at least without knowing where you will work Have a wonderful day. Margaret
