We also have plans to make a fairly significant investment in our existing Cookeville in the very near future. Hopefully the changes we make to the existing store will enhance your shopping experience. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Since there is absolutely no more room in that Kroger to do anything, I wonder if Kroger will take over the rest of that shopping center the way they took over the old Super X space the last time they expanded.

Kroger currently leases space for storage within the shopping center, i.e. the former Bilmar Station. The landlords would have to terminate the RAC lease. Still, the parking lot is a beast most early evenings along with Saturdays and Sundays.

name on the side.
It looks like that site is going to be a Fiesta Cancun restaurant with room for possibly another restaurant.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that the downtown hotel/conference center should get started this summer. I hope we'll see some renderings soon.

This came from out of nowhere. The city has offered to buy Park View School, where it would like to build a new central police HQ. The school board has already said that a new elementary school needs to be built anyway, so I guess the thinking is they could sell Park View to the city and use that money to help fund a new, larger elementary school on the SW part of town. With 8 acres, the Park View site could accommodate a nice police facility.

Monterey is finally getting some love. Bank of Putnam County, which started out in Monterey in 1901 as "Bank of Monterey" before moving its HQ to Cookeville in 1976, now has branches in 5 counties and is building a new operations center where it all started: downtown Monterey. This development will include some apartments and will bring about 30 new jobs to Monterey.

There are a couple of prominent lots on the eastern edge of downtown Cookeville up for rezoning. My source at the city said a developer is planning on building some high density apartment blocks there. "It's high rise apartments/condos. It's something like you see in Nashville at those big forks in town." I'm not sure what that means, but I'm all for higher density developments in Cookeville's downtown.
