Exactly. I wonder what else Neal Patel has developed. Even if the other offer was from a shopping center developer that didn't have any particular retailers lined up, the fact that it's a very successful shopping center developer should've played in their favor. It's going to be a huge letdown if all Patel does is replace cheap housing with more cheap housing.

I noticed that they are working on the old bank on Jefferson next to the new Wilson Bank and Trust. Anyone have an idea what's going in there?

I've heard it's going to be an office/payment center for Twin Lakes telephone company.

That part of town is going to be the place to go for non-chain restaurants; Red Silo is going to be across the street from Father Tom's Pub, next door to India Palace, around the corner from World Foods, down the street from Mauricio's, and a block away from Westside Deli, Seven Senses, Taiko, Cream City Ice Cream, Backroom Bistro, Charity's Bakery, P-Dilly's, and probably some other places I can't think of right now.

I didn't notice anything Saturday when I was through there, but this afternoon I noticed a sign that said Twin Lakes along with the company handling the remodel.

I found it odd earlier in January when a small fleet of Twin Lakes trucks were at the intersection of Lowe and Stevens working on the lines....makes sense now.

Lots more townhouses are being built. On tonight's Planning Commission agenda are proposals to build 22 townhouses at the corner of 10th and Breeding, which I guess is across the street from The Coliseum gaming pub, and another proposal for 75 townhouses and condos somewhere on East Spring called Copper Springs. I tend to like high-density developments so I'm happy about this. But I didn't realize there was such a demand in Cookeville for townhouses and condos. I'm hoping this bodes well for the proposed condo high rise downtown.

Good guess; Bread Box is directly across from the barcade; the townhomes will sit across from American Discount Tobacco and American Wine and Spirits.

Right. So I guess these townhouses will be next to Bread Box. With all the other apartment and townhouse developments that have sprung up on 10th Street all the way into Algood, it's looking more and more that 10th really needs to be widened to 5 lanes to accommodate all the extra traffic.
