Any idea what local industry this might be?

"The city and the county have received a proposal to sell about 12 acres in the [Highlands Business Park] for an expansion of a local industry," [Cookeville City Manager James Mills] said. "The proposal would add 40 jobs, with the lowest job pay being around $60,000. For starting salaries, nobody else is much like that in Cookeville and Putnam County that pays that kind of wage."

I wonder if these are engineer-type jobs. Twelve acres for only 40 jobs sounds like some sort of research facility.

The story is behind the H-C paywall:

We now know who it is. MS Automation, which was originally called Mid South Industrial Automation, is the company. They were founded in Cookeville in 1999 and have 22 employees. This means they'll be tripling their workforce at the new facility. Since they're just asking for a reduced price on the land and not for any kind of PILOT, it sounds like they're dedicated to staying in Cookeville.

I'd never heard of them so I had to look them up.

MS Automation builds custom advanced manufacturing systems with a focus on high speed assembly, test, and inspection of automotive electronics components.

**We also offer subcontract manufacturing out of our dedicated production facility in Cookeville, TN as of June 2022.

As a full-service automation provider we partner with precision manufacturers to design, build, debug, and install turn-key advanced manufacturing systems that make products faster, more safely, with improved quality, and at lower cost per unit.

Sounds like the kind of business that can take advantage of all those mechanical, industrial, and electrical engineers at TTU.
