You drive thru Mc Donalds (any fast food place really) and dont even get a hello, welcome to Mc Donalds. You pay and drive up to pick up window only to have the bag thrust in your face and the window quickly closed. What about "do you need ketchup"? or "have a nice day, come back soon"?
Its more like "Honey, do you need any ketchup or salt with that?"

2Mares is correct....the larger towns will even be more diverse.

Donsabi,

We are currently building in Fairfield Glade and would certainly recommend the community. Lake Tansi is also a nice community but we believe that Fairfield Glade is a bit more upscale and that is what we were looking for. When I say "upscale", you can still get resale homes in FFG in the mid 100K range while new construction/resale homes in the North Fairfield Glade section are going anywhere from $400-650K range. Lake front homes on one of the larger lakes go from the high $400K to about $800K range. Lots in the North section go from about $50-150K. There are lots of clubs in the community (hiking, photo etc.) and the people we have met are all very friendly. The community also has its own security and volunteer fire department. I would highly recommend checking out Fairfield Glade. Good Luck

Just thought I would mention that I have moved to FFG and even though I did so in the winter and it is still winter I love it here.

donsabi,

Good to hear that you have moved to FFG and enjoying it. I will be moving there sometime in this summer (when our house is completed) and can't wait. It is a very nice community.

Don't put too much trust in the realtors - they do tend to steer you to the glade. The glade is somewhat of a country club environment - lots of golfers. Tansi is a bit more down home because the HOA is less strict. Crossville has some beautiful neighborhoods - but, you need to know, their is no zoning, no real building codes. Drive around all of Crossville both north and south of I-40 to get a feel for the very real differences in convenience, ambiance, wild-life, etc between the areas.

I agree with OutBnd. The only problem I had with the Tansi area was that they have a public sewer system being installed and this is a point of contention with residents there. In most cases you can find an area that suits your means and desires in Cumberland county.
