I've just looked at the Cookeville camera at the link below and it looks really gloomy in the picture. Dark skies and water drops on the camera lens cover.

That's a lot of water!

To be honest--if it's the area of Cookeville I'm thinking of--I'm surprised it doesn't flood more often. Those apartments were built in a little valley. I wouldn't be surprised if there used to be a big sinkhole there at some point but was maybe paved over or blocked up when those apartments were built 20 or so years ago.

There's a big sinkhole in the south side of town that the city rescued 10 or so years ago. It was turning into a big garbage dump, and there was the real danger that the sinkhole would be plugged up. It was cleaned up and is now a beautiful park with some nature trails and a little education center about the importance of protecting sinkholes.

Yes, it really is bad timing for us. They were supposed to pour our basement foundation, but this has definitely caused a delay.
