Gainesboro is located on the Cumberland River and Cordell Hull Lake. There are many swimming areas on the lake.

If you want a large public pool, there is Echo Valley which is located between Gainesboro and Cookeville on Hwy 70. It's a gigantic pool.

Yep,there are probably hundreds of swimming areas on the lakes & rivers of middle Tennessee. Some of these have what you might say is the closest thing to a "beach" you'll find in TN...There are three that I know of that are close to Gainesboro.
First is the "Roaring River Access",which is off hwy 135 just outside the Gainesboro city limits toward Cookeville. It's on the Roaring River just before it meets the Cumberland.
Then there's the Salt Lick Creek & Defeated Recreation Areas, both of which are off hwy.85 between Gainesboro & Carthage. These offer camping, play equipment for the kids & "beaches".

There are no public pools in Gainesboro or Baxter. The closest one, like JMT said, is Echo Valley on hwy.70 between Baxter & Cookeville. There's also the Cookeville Community Center & the YMCA which has an indoor pool(although you probably have to be a member to use that...)

Wish there were more public pools around, you'd think there would be...

There is a closer public pool than Echo Valley. It is located in Granville, at Maple Grove Campground, which is 12 miles South of Gainesboro. It's right on route 53-very nice pool!
