Hello, I will be moving to Cookeville in the near future and would like to know if there are any loft-style apartments in the area. I have heard there are a few but I can't seem to find any evidence that this is true.

If not, what apartment communities would you recommend?
I am looking for safety, cleanliness and pet acceptance near the medical center. Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think there are a lot of loft apartments. There may be some funky stuff about the shops around Broad Street that is "lofty" and that would put you close to CRMC. The good news is that CRMC is right next to the University, where there are tons of apartment complexes.

All are safe, all look clean to me, dunno about the pet thing. If it were me, I would go to the townhomes around 1st Street and see how much/if any are for rent. Those are so cute. That would be walking distance to CRMC for sure.

That's right, there are a few on Broad St. across from the Depot. Above Taiko etc. I know a guy that lives in one & it's really cool. I'll try to ask him if any are available. Also used to be some in the west end shopping district & on the east side of the courthouse on the square but don't know if they exist anymore.

Are you talking about those townhouses across from the farmers market? If so, I LOVE those. If I were lucky enough to live in Cookeville, I would definitely look in to those townhouses. They're within easy walking distance of the hospital, the university, downtown, the performing arts center, a grocery store, tons of good restaurants including that awesome new French bistro/pastry shop, and they're also adjacent to the new bike path that will eventually head up the mountain all the way to Monterey.

There were some new loft apartments that were going to be built on Cedar between downtown and the university, I believe where there's a self-storage place right now next to that hot dog place. I saw them advertised and man they looked awesome. But that was a couple of years ago before the real estate market tanked, and I don't think construction has even started on them yet. Otherwise I would highly recommend those.

Default @Firepower

It would be awesome if you could gather some information for me, Firepower.

I have lived in cookeville for a short time in the past and have at least visited a number of the apartment complexes in the area. I wasn't all that impressed with the quality of the units and I would prefer a bit more as far as safety (lighting, adequate door locks, etc) goes. I will be living/working in the area while my husband continues to work near our home. For this reason, I would prefer that extra sense of safety while I am alone in town.

Do any of you know anything about the new apartment community in town...I believe it is called Northgate?

There are really cool apartments on 121 W. Broad Street above the old Intrepid Traveler. I don't know if they are currently available but I attached a couple of pictures. The other buildings in the area have similar style apartments. Some with old exposed brick, high ceilings, original crown moulding. Beautiful>>

A lady I work with has Intrepid Traveler listed (it's for sale), I'll ask her what she knows about the apartments.

She wasn't in the office today - if she's not there tomorrow, I'll just call her
