Default What beach?

We live in Austin and typically make our way to Corpus Christi at least twice a year for our beach fix. (we are originally from the coast of Alabama)

We have found..so far...that we enjoy the beach area around Mustang Island and Bob Hall Pier, but recently one of our neighbors told us about a nicer, cleaner, clearer beach area a few miles south of the BH Pier but he wasn't sure what the name of it was. We have heard the beaches further south toward South Padre are nicer but we travel with our 11 year old and a 70 lb bulldog so we don't like to be in the car any longer than we have to and we are satisfied enough with the beaches around the Corpus Christi area.

Does anyone from the area know what beach he may be referring to? Also does anyone know of an affordable hotel on the beach that allows pets in the North Padre/Mustang Island area???

We will be making another trip to Corpus in a couple of weeks...thanks for any suggestions..

Try Malaquite Beach--we were there weekend before last, & it's just beautiful. Just a few miles south of the Bob Hall pier area. Much better beach (JMHO) than South Padre Island. I'm only about an hour or so from SPI, but we drive up to Corpus for the beach.

they are probably thinking of the padre island national seashore which is a national park.

most places will not rent to a dog that large. Maybe check vrbo to filter for pet friendly condos.
