Meltre-
what kind of food do you like? This has been the biggest struggle for us in moving to CC...the lack of good restaurants. The ones we have found-We LOVE the Dragonfly on the Island. Vietnam downtown is good, as is Water Street if you choose their specials. Yard Arm is usually good, but not always. Green Papaya is pretty good and owned by the same family as Vietnam, but is less expensive. The absolute BEST hamburger ever is at Bob Hall Pier in the Ozone...delicious. We also like the burgers at Surf Club and (I know this is silly), but their jalapeno poppers are to die for. They hand make them and the peppers are never frozen...SO tasty. Let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if I have a "find." We've only been here about 6 months, but have managed!

Corpus is nowhere near the Hottest city in the US McAllen, Phoenix and Las Vegas are all hotter.
The writer said he did NOT want to live in the city. I would then suggest the nice little beach town of Rockport - although its better demographically for women than men - at least in the 40-55 age group.

Run for the hills!
Forget South Texas totally unless you enjoy lots of corruption and illegals.

Here you go again with your stupid lies and false information. And its funny. I only see you talk bad about this Corpus thread. I haven't seen you in any posts lately anywhere. But once something about Corpus pops up you magically appear. I wont lie, the hill country is nice. But its not as great as you make it out to be. Its not much nicer than Corpus.

gabetx...they are not lies and false information. I spent 20 years working that area so I know what goes on. So sorry that you can't admit it.

I moved here from California 30 plus years ago, moved to Portland which is across bay from CC. We have loved the climate, neighbors, easy access to work in corpus. It is not far to Houston or San Antonio or Austin where we have family. As someone said, you find the bad if you look for it, but we have been happy and raised 3 children(all graduated from A&M )in good school-GPISD. there are other good schools. Rockport is near for a more eclectic seaside resort type feel. We love the hill country and it makes good weekend trips. Our utilities are less than many places, gas is around 3.49 today, and my little town is growing but not wildly. The airport is small but sufficient for the flying we have to do. Overall, I think there many places I would not live, and would say give it a look.

No it is not a good place to move to in MY opinion.
We moved here a year and half ago. Initially I thought it was a pretty decent place. My self, wife and child all really hate it here now. We are actually looking to leave as soon as I find a job in another state. I could go on and on about the reasons....but I will just list a few:
A lot of the people(not everyone) are very rude and seem like they think they are entitled.
Poor drivers.
It's a very dirty city with dirty beaches.
High taxes.
Not that much to do here other than fishing(I do like to fish).
Like I said, I could go on...but I think you get the idea.
Good luck in your search.

Belle,
About a year and a half ago I gave you a hard time about your feelings on Corpus... I must apologize. Now that I have been here for a while I hate the place. We are looking to leave the state. It's dirty, corrupt and the people are rude. Again... I could go on and on. Guess I should have listened to your warnings. You were right.

just be sure that you REALLY spend a good week or more there, and not just at Padre Island, to get a good "feel" for the place, to make sure it is right for you.
