There are two good possibilities for the future of Memorial Coliseum. The best one is for it to renovated to become a Olympic training center for swimming. The renovation and conversion would create jobs and the on-going rent paid to the city would help the city budget. Even better, the project would bring athletes, trainers, their support staff and the press to Corpus Christi. This would generate business and give free publicity to our downtown waterfront.
The second good plan is for the IceRays to renovate it to use as their home arena. This is also a good idea and for most of the same reason as the swimming proposal.
The Leisure Horizons sounds like a risky proposition and the plans ruin the architectural significance of the building. I'd say yes to Olympic swimming training and to the IceRays, but a big NO to Leisure Horizons.

I cant wait until the elections roll around... I just think the MC's time serving the city is done. It really needs to be torn down. Also, city council needs to learn how to make decisions and stop hiring consultants from other cities and states to tell them what we should do. The city council's job is to figure things out on their own... That is why they are elected.

Bunch of freaking office monkeys!

I have lived down here for 7 yrs., and I am so tired of hearing about the Coliseum. Tear that thing down, build a plaza, restaurants, shopping, or something. On the shore where I am from, we had stores, and back in the old days we had an arcade, and such. I do not understand, why these people cannot make a decision. I do not watch the local news when I can help it, but when I do, it's the same indecisive, ignorance. Anything is better than nothing, these folks are so afraid of change, and we won't even mention greed...
