Default What is the average temp. in Corpus around 10:00 AM in August?

Travelling with pets and connecting through Dallas to Corpus in August. Travel restrictions say that the temp cannot be over 85 degrees. Could this be an issue when we travel on August 2nd and arrive at around 10:00 am? Is is usually that hot that early in the morning on average?

It will be really close to that temp. It depends if the sun is out or if its overcast. It can be anywhere from 80-90 degrees at that time.

Looking at stats, last year on that day and at 9:51 a.m., it was 84.9 degrees with a dew point of 78.1, very oppressive and extremely uncomfortable. Another year, 2004, it was 88, and still with a very tropical dew point.

Being the pet lover that I am, I wouldn't do it. It's too risky for the sweet pals. The temperature is not usually the real issue; it's the humidity and dew point that make all the difference in the world.

Yes. It WILL be an issue, so count on it, especially if you have what they consider "pug-nosed" breeds.

If you HAVE to do this, consider traveling at night only.

Take Cathy's advice completely - you can't believe how hot and humid it is at that time of the year in CC, even in the mornings.

Thanks! Just changed our flights so we arrive in Dallas at around 5:00 A.M., connect to a Corpus flight and arrive at 7:30 A.M. We don't really have a choice on whether or not to fly with our pets, as this is a PCS military move from Hawaii. But the information about the weather and how hot it is even at 10:00 in the morning, will make it a little easier on the pets.

Good, glad to hear it.

If the temps are too high, the airline won't even allow the pet to travel at all, and that includes all transfer points, too.

I am actually surprised that they are even transporting pets in the summer at all. It's not unusual for a complete embargo to be in effect--no shipments/travel period--and the temps aren't even checked. That has happened at DFW many years.

In the case of military, I don't know, but if they have OK'ed it, you should be OK flying and transferring at night.

Have a safe flight for all!

Umm let's do an opinion poll------ why bother finding out the reality by checking real weather sites with published data going back 50 years? Weather.com info weather.com there are lots of them.

Some of us did that. Given the history, day temps are likely to be too high, and they won't let the dog travel.

You obviously know nothing at all about airlines and shipping/traveling with pets, and it shows big time.

What's wrong with you? Of course that's the first thing we checked. EVERY site had different information, which is why I decided to check with people that have lived in Corpus for at least a few summers! Geez!
