San Diego get 14 million tourists a year.

Compare that to true tourism meccas like Las Vegas and Orlando. LV gets 43 million a year and Orlando is at a little over 50 million a year.

San Antonio gets 26 million a year.

Corpus gets 7 million a year.

I'm going to say it because I fear nobody else will. The crime here, more specifically serious crimes, are merely a reflection of the predominate type of person that lives here. You have a huge demographic of people who are more 'neanderthal' types that have no education, no real job, and really have nothing else to do but get in trouble. This place is flush with thugs and other very bothersome type. This is perhaps the biggest reason Corpus is so far behind. You have the absolute bottom of the barrel of social classes here -- and lots of them.

Bottom of the barrel social class? Give me a break. There are plenty of well-educated people here that are progressive and trying to better themselves and the community. Predominate type of person that lives here is hispanic. If you have a problem with that, it's called racism. You don't come out and say it, but we know your type.

[SIZE=1]The San Diego visitor industry is the third largest industry in San Diego County, employing more than 160,000 San Diegans. It is one of the top five leisure vacation destinations in the U.S. and a top 10 business destination as measured by visitor-days. San Diego by the numbers. But it's not a tourism mecca. In the US, NY, LA, Orlando and Vegas are the true tourism meccas.

It's top 5 for "leisure vacation destinations" not overall tourism.

However, how is SD in the top 5 when more cities get more people in that catagoriy.

NY, LA, Hawaii, Orlando, Miami, SA, etc.

Um no. Granted the majority is hispanic, I'm referring to the bottom of the barrel of lots of races. I'm sure there are statistics, but there is no way the concentration of socially progressive educated outnumbers that ofthe concentration of pure losers in this city that have nothing more going for them than a jail sentence. Not too many college degrees sitting in the county jail these days.

No cigar, I will agree with you about the amount of ghetto people here. There are a lot. But I have a feeling that the city leaders want their city back and are starting to fight against gangs, graffiti, drugs, and robberies. The city is short 150 police officers and CC is constantly hiring. I think they are hiring for their 3rd or 4th time this year alone.

Rape arrests often occur between people who know each other- where one person maybe dos too drinking or whatever gets out of line with another. These charges often come from college parties etc.
