Default Corpus Christi compared to Harlingen

We are relocating to TX and spend a week in Corpus Christi and liked what we saw. We found a home in the Cornerstone development in Flour Bluff. Several people have suggested we check out Harlingen before we relocate. We found a home in the Harlingen Country Club area.
We are now going to Harlingen for a week to compare it to Corpus.
Anyone familiar with both areas? We are semi retiring from Minnesota.

Depends on far you want to be from civilization :-) Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley are great, just a different lifestyle. There are many retirees who flock to Harlingen and surrounding areas from the north during the winter time. There will be plenty of things to do. It's very laid back there with a large mexican cultural base. If you can look past that and enjoy the valley for what it is you'll be fine. My mom lives year round in the Stuart Place Country Club (par 3 golf course) that is across the street from the other Country Club. It's a 55 + community, she loves it. I'm interested to hear what you think of Harlingen after you visit :-)

I just came from eating lunch in downtown Corpus Christi and it was a very pleasant experience with no crack dealers in sight. It's not the best downtown, but it's come a long way from what it used to be.

Default changeofpace

We spent a week in Corpus and frequented downtown both day and evening. Although very quiet, there were no panhandlers and kids hanging around on every other corner harassing people like they do in downtown Minneapolis.
