This past March my (now ex) girlfriend and I went on a cruise aboard Norwegian from New York City and I had an absolutely great time. I just enjoyed the fact that my day could be as busy or relaxed as I wanted and I didn't have to worry about a thing for a week.

In fact, just a few hours ago, I booked a studio aboard the Norwegian Epic for a 7 day cruise around the Carribbean from Miami in April. Norwegian is the only large cruise line that has studios, which are rooms designed for single travelers. I'm single now, and most of my friends are not in a financial position to go with me, but it's going to be my birthday, so I figured why not. The area of the ship with the studios has its own private lounge with 2 for 1 drink specials in the afternoon, so from what I hear it's an excellent way to meet people.

I didn't know about the studios on Norwegian, so thanks for that info. I've been on several cruises, but never alone. At this stage of the game, I'd like to join a singles travel group, to travel with like-minded folks of a certain age. At mealtime and for the tours, I'd prefer to not be alone, however, I'd like my own hotel room or stateroom. I'm going to start a thread about this subject. Enjoy your trip and birthday!

I say to you YOLO (you only live once)
Screw waiting around for other people to make you happy. You are a grown person, go where you wanna go, do what you wanna do! When you are having fun and enjoying what you are doing, regardless whether you're alone or not, you will meet people. If not, again, SCREW EM!

I have never done a cruise alone, probably would not either. In fact, we rarely get an adults only cruise without the kids.

Before I was married and had a famiy, I did a number of trips alone, or I would do a leg of a trip alone and meet up with someone for part of the trip. It is not a big deal, and it is often quieter that way and no one to compain about everything.
(When we were kids, my mom, who hated travel, compained about EVERYTHING, as did my ex-wife)

I have never done an amusement park alone, but last Fall for my birthday was the first time in 13 years that the wife(Aka my "old lady") and I did one without the kids in tow. There are many places I have gone alone just because no one else wanted to go and I did.
