Well, to be fair, the people who can only afford to go to the Bahamas from Florida for two days aren't going to swing for the better cruises to begin with.

I'd much rather go on a cruise anywhere on anything other than Carnival, so I just don't go for as long. It's worth not having to deal with amateur drinkers and people who don't understand what parenting is.

That may be why what jnojr wrote is true, but the point is that what jnojr wrote is substantially true: If Cunard ran a four day Bahamas cruise for $238 pp, as Carnival is currently offering, you can bet its clientele will become similar to Carnival's clientele on that discounted cruise. Similarly, when Carnival offers an Alaska cruise for roughly the same fare as what Princess and Holland America offer for an Alaska cruise, the clientele on Carnival will be similar to Princess and Holland America's.

But that likely won't happen, because those other cruise lines are more luxurious and well-appointed. You get what you pay for.
