I saw this on cruise critic, and I'm sure they will delete it. I hope our great moderators will allow it to remain. I'm sure she would appreciate as much participation as she can get. This link verifies her credentials are as she claims

Dear Cruisers,

My name is Yiwei Li, and I am a last year PhD candidate in the Hotel School at Cornell University. Dr. Robert Kwortnik and I are conducting an academic study to explore why cruisers switch between cruise lines.

We invite you to join this study and share your cruising experiences with us. With your responses, we will be able to better understand the motivators for cruisers to switch cruise lines and then provide cruise companies suggestions on designing loyalty programs and launching sales promotions.

Please use this link (https://cornell.qualtrics.com/jfe/fo...pwFB9FydbWdav3) to get access to our questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of several open-ended questions and will take 5 to 15 minutes to complete. Your responses are voluntary and anonymous. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at yl2325@cornell.edu. Your contributions are very important to our study, and we sincerely thank you for your time and participation.

Best regards,

Yiwei Li

What doesn’t make sense to me was why would a student have any incentives to help cruise company on retaining customer royalty. I feel like there is something the person has to gain from conducting this survey.

Based on your member name, maybe Brooklyn should be included in that thread about "the most unfriendly people"

How about marketability once she gets her degree? It might increase interest in her resume.

Speaking as a student who had run a few of these they have a clear incentive: THEIR GRADE.

All the classes and research projects want you to support your claims w outside data. Surveys are the easiest (and most wrong).

I think the survey is inadequate. Maybe once you get the answer you can make up a new survey.

I would think of a longer survey with multiple choices and maybe a few boxes for random comments.

It is a study and I totally agree with what she is doing. I remember something similar several years ago. It was a different study but it dealt with cruising and opinions as well.

Geez guys. Y'all have spent more time commenting on this than it takes to complete the student's survey for her Phd.

I completed the survey and am glad to have helped a student. The survey only took a few minutes, not the 5-10 minutes stated.
