They are looking for $150 each for in essence an open bar. Wine and beer free with lunch and dinner. We are reasonable drinkers. Is the booze package worth it. How much are drinks on the ship?

Can't tell you for that line. But you pay for any drink other than say tea or coffee from the "cafeteria"
Lets say Beer $5 wine $8 mixed drinks?

Lets say you buy one drink a day at $10. That is 70 bucks max for the week.

If you are going to try and watch your weight then it certainly would be a no buy.

I don't know how many days your cruise is. Viking charges $15/day per person plus gratuties for the open bar service ("Silver Spirits).

Here is a blog that recently published the alcoholic drink prices: https://sandinmysuitcase.com/viking-cruise-bar-menu/

We rarely sail without a drinks package. It's not just about saving money. It's also has a value that we don't even have to think about ordering that after dinner drink, ordering that bloody mary in the morning, saying no thank you to some cutesy cocktail that tasted like cotten candy, etc.

So - although I cannot imagine that we would ever pay to sail on Viking Ocean, IF we did, I'd probably be buying that package.
