You will find that there are plenty of places to meet on board to catch up on everyone's fun. On the Carnival ships that we've been on there's always a few bars that are only open in the evening so they are a good place for meeting during the day.

The Carnival Conquest out of Galveston is starting an itinerary next year that will do Key West, Freeport and Nassau. You might look into that one in addition to sailing out of NO.

If I were a member of a family that could afford a cruse for a reunion, I'd be content to just sit and wait for their lawyers to start reading wills.

Much better than being trapped at their house! At least you have an excuse to go see something on land, on the boat, in the bar, at the shows, whatever it takes as an excuse. The bigger the ship the better in this case.
