It doesn't matter what deck you are on when it comes time to get off the ship. They don't disembark based on deck location, it's pretty much a free for all. If you are on a ship sponsored excursion, they'll tell you where to be to get off the ship. In GC, you'll be tendering to the port so you'll have other directions to follow also. The first sea day they will have a "talk" about excursions and getting off at the ports. Go to the talk so you'll be informed but if you miss the talk, don't sweat it. It will be replayed numerous times on the TV.

As for cash, all of these places are "Americanized" so they will take US dollars and you can request your change back in either US currency or that countries currency. If you want to deal in non US currency just ask at the pursers desk where in port you can do an exchange.

Oh yeah - port hole windows don't open either.

What Carnival ship are you on? I'm so jealous, I can't wait to cruise again. I just wish I knew when I was!!

Hey "pfw"! - I'm on Carnival Freedom, I am so excited! It was kind of a last minute decision to go on the cruise, and the hard part was finding warm weather clothes near the end of October in Boston! But, luckily I found everything I needed cheaply!
I have 1 ship sponsored exc. which was he GC island tour, the others I booked throught the agent or on the city website.
Thanks for the great tips!

I have been on about 6-8 cruises and here are some of my experiences...
Take Bonine BEFORE the ship starts moving on the first day (Dramamine makes you sleepy and you can't drink alcohol). Take it for several days as directed. After that, you will probably not need it. I found there is no rhyme nor reason as to getting sea sick. I've gotten sick when there was no discernable motion, and not gotten sick when the ship was rocking. It always has happened on the first night. If you do happen to get seasick, just go to the doctor's office and get a shot and go to bed because the night is pretty much ruined.
Even on a crowded ship, I have been surprised that you can still always find a secluded spot. I never have felt claustrophibic.
Have fun.

thanks "gentlearts"!! I'll take it with me just in case, and take it before we start moving, as a precaution!

Get your seasick patches from your doctor, just in case.. they worked great.. Also, don't forget at least one set of more formal wear for those special restaurants and evenings on board. I had one week on NCL's Alaska Freestyle and was disappointed with only one restaurant that had a dress code strictly enforced for dinner time. Also, just a reminder the cruise company makes ALOT of money off of the drinks and extras that you buy on board, so if you are on a budget be very careful as it can add up quickly. Don't forget to just spend some time relaxing on deck with nothing to do.. it was one of the best moments with just a book, a blanket and the scenery floating by.. enjoy !!!
