In the same week, though? Conspiracy theorists should be all over this one. Strange times. It's almost like Americans are numb to all of this craziness.

It has happened before; there was an outbreak of self-immolation (copying Buddhist monks in Vietnam) during the late Sixties. Even little West Chester, PA witnessed such a tragedy.

We're tempted to over-generalize, but when a number of issues perceived as threats emerge at around the same time, and too many people are fixated on centralized, rather than localized authority and responsibility, the time becomes ripe for strange things to happen, with the less-responsible elements of the media eager to stoke the fires.

But the majority of us still have jobs to go to, and family/friends to keep us sane.
