I agree that the Segway is one of the most overhyped products of the last half century - I mean, jeez, Kamen promised it would be something that would revolutionize human civilization. That's a pretty tough mark to hit. But that doesn't mean it's not still a great product. Yes, they're expensive to purchase, but it's practically free to operate, and it's a blast to ride.
It's a perfect commuting vehicle for a lot of people, and for people like my wife - who's disabled - it does change your life. She can see wilderness areas that without a Segway, she'd never have even known they existed, and with me being an avid hiker, she can now share a part of my life that was always just a dream for her. In general, yes - they can never even come close to meeting the hype, but it's still a wonderful product and an amazing piece of engineering.
Cursive writing. Anyone else remember being told it would be sooooo important about ten years ago? Nobody uses it at all now. I don't understand why it was ever supposed to be so big. It's too variable from person-to-person.
Jesse, don't talk about my Wii! lol I love it, play quite a bit, and watch my Netflix through the Wii.
On the subject of the Segway, our utility company here uses them all the time. The meter readers use them going from house to house and I've been told they're saving time and money. Workers are getting done quicker. It's funny to see their vans go by with a Segway attached to the front.
