Who the hell is this pope? He is so new he still squeaks.

Obama got a Nobel when first becoming POTUS. Handing out once prestigious awards to virtual unknowns is vogue today and lowers the prestige of the award to ''Who cares".
Why not give it to the dead actor I never heard of until they ran his face on every TV, newspaper, website and grocery store gossip rag. I still don't know who he is or what he has done.

Yeah, give him an award for being dead.

I think it's great! Especially when you look at the other contenders who included people like Miley Cyrus. When the pool of contenders is a bunch of turkeys, it's no wonder the Pope - who is a genuinely great and influential man - won the title.

This is not an award, let alone a "prestigious" award. It is simply Time magazine's naming a person who had an impact on the news and what people talked about for that year. Sometimes the nominees are actually criminals, I think Osama Bin Laden was a nominee one year. Again, not an award, just a declaration of who was a big news maker or had a big impact during that one year.

Exactly. Adolph Hitler was Time's Man of the Year in 1939.

However Time magazine points out controversial figures such as Adolf Hitler (1938), Joseph Stalin (1939 and 1942), Nikita Khrushchev (1957) and Ayatollah Khomeini (1979) have also been granted the title for their impacts.

If I were the Pope I wouldn't take it as a compliment.

He has accomplished nothing yet but he's viewed as a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda and very socialist pope. That's why he's being promoted so heavily. He is not viewed as a traditional Catholic or Christian.

As long as it's not Miley Cyrus. Causing nationwide gagging isn't necessarily an "impact."
