good luck with that is all I can say...people should pay with cash anyways...if they haven't got it, they shouldn't buy it.
Many people do not use credit cards just because they do not have money; they use credit cards so they are not carrying around a bunch of cash with them. It is convenient, and some cards give you cash back, award points, etc.
The majority of merchants, and all large scale merchants, are not going to charge more for card use.
Only at AMEX, they are always trying to tack on fees. Not customer friendly.
AMEX stands for 'Always Make'em' pay Extra'.
With most Credit Cards they are useful for not having to carry cash, their warranties, mileage, cash back, and if you pay the bill monthly have no fees using their money for 30 days.
I use a card almost always, but I pay in full. It's about the cash back, not lacking the cash to buy. I also don't think most merchants are going to risk chasing off customers. Down here, I've seen the opposite, stores that are rewarding shoppers who use cash, vs punishing those who use credit. Over a recent end of season block party and citywide sale, a few stores had signs that said "Everything in store: 40% off for cash customers, 20% off for credit card customers". You better believe I used cash in those stores!
i use my card for everything, 2% cash across the board. i have other cars for 3-6% cashback for some things.
they can charge fees, i will just choose my lowest cost option. if the fees change that, then i wont buy it. if its still the best deal with the fee, they can have my business.
They can already charge more for use of credit card. But most don't because they want the business and here they have to display they do. Amex is famous for high fees to business .They loss a lot of business when Visa and master card started.
I charge everything to a cc and pay it off at the end of the month. The cash back is nice. I shop as infrequently as possible and for big purchases only online.
If they switch to cash or debt card, I will be purchasing even less. Good for my bank account.
