The article said "permission" was given so it does seem like miscommunication. I also can't imagine a kid sitting still for a haircut he didn't want so I'm leaning toward the idea he might have been embarrassed by it and wanted it gone. Either way, if one thin dime exchanges hands over this it will be a travesty. Mistakes, hurt feeling, etc. are not WINNING THE LOTTERY and anyone suggesting it is an idiot.

Every parent and child in this school district are given handbooks at the beginning of the school year that clearly state the dress code. (including hair) That child never should have been sent to school looking like that. That doesn't mean what happened to him at the school was right..it wasn't...they never should have laid a hand on him.

He's from Lehigh...it's a ghetto so you don't really expect much from them other than thugs, drugs and lots and lots of crime.

Better be able to prove it because this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Unless there is proof it was not a misunderstanding, suspend the school employee without pay for a week and apologize to the family.

Since his hair was going to be clipped at home later, it's not that major of an issue.

If it turns out that there is proof the school employee just took on himself to clip the boy's hair, fire him and apologize to the family.

If I were on the jury, if this went to a lawsuit, I'd award the family $5,000 if the employee wasn't disciplined and $25 if he was.

I also think that there was miscommunication between the school and the parent.

I think that Ceece may be correct that the boy may have suggested that someone at the school cut his hair right away. Otherwise why wouldn't the boy just wait until he got home and his father---a barber----could cut his hair?

There are two things going on here. First of all, the Step Dad needs his head examined for cutting that hideous design into that boy's hair (I saw it on the news). He is setting the kid up to fail by thinking he can dress and groom anyway he wants and there are no rules to follow. In 6 years he will be wondering why he isn't getting hired when he applies for jobs.

But secondly, the school crossed the line in taking it upon themselves to cut his hair. That is way out of their rights and they need to be held accountable for it.

Boy should have been sent home until it grows back.

The child should have been picked up by the parent right then and there and dealt with at home and not allowed to return until he looked human again (he looked like an idiot with his hair like that) Why he wasn't is beyond me.......something inside me says that the father gave permission and when the story hit local news (and now national news) he changed his story in order to gain attention and make this bigger than it really is.

When someone else takes it upon themselves to raise my kid, is the day that person feels the wrath of GOD.

it was for the school to send the kid home with a note or ask parents to pick him up PUNTO- and to each his own for styles --maybe your hair looks dorky to me, come here let me cut it to my style-
some of you act like you were never kids,,, maybe you weren't-
schools are not barbershops- this was mishandled,,, the dad, who is a proffesional barber, is NOT going to tell the schoool to cut his kids hair... think!
