To protect the gene pool of their giraffe population, a zoo in Denmark shot a 2 year old giraffe, skinned and cut it up in front of zoo visitors, and fed the meat to the lions.
They invited visitors to observe.
I don't know why they didn't just trade giraffes with another zoo.

Is it me, or does this seem like a barbaric thing to do in front of children?
On the other hand, what's different about feeding an extra giraffe to the lions from feeding whatever other meat they feed them?
Call me conflicted.

The Dane's gave the parents attending the zoo the option to watch the process. And, the Danes are selling this as science. Do you hate science? Moderator cut: personal off topic

Science.

Choice.

Too funny. I think it's the tree hugging bunny lovers that are up in arms about this, and they tend to be lefties. But, way to make it political.....

I can't imagine, as a parent, wanting my young child to see this. YUCK.

My post was tongue in cheek about how when people talk about the wrong kind of white people they always assume that conservatives are anti science

I forget about the smileys on the side that I can use to annotate my posts so people don't get the wrong impression.

The Circle of life...

They did Put it down 1st. They did not let it lose in the loin area for him to be chased down and kill'ed by the loins. (That's what happens in the Wild.)

From that the news story said there was no Zoo that could take him. (And maintain DNA bio diversity.)

I think everyone, from an early age, should see animals being raised for slaughter and used, respectfully, to feed others.
This is the way life works, people.

I believe it's an embarrassing act of moral cowardice to encourage physical distance from the quintessential fact of biological life on this planet - that all living animals depend on other living creatures to keep them alive.
It is not shameful except when it is done cruelly and/or wastefully.

Hmm, to protect gene pool. Might as well apply this method to humans, it's far too long overdue.

huh? why is it ok for low information people to be so anti-human that they think they can just make ridiculous statements like this?

as far as the giraffe is concerned, I don't see the problem.
