The NFL has come out and said that if Arizona passes this law protecting businesses who don't want to be forced to provide services that go against their religious beliefs, they will pull the 2015 superbowl from AZ. They said they don't tolerate any discrimination based upon race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
The most basic reason why the NFL and it's owners field competitive teams (the best product they can) is to make a profit.
Now, I don't see a single female player, coordinator or head coach in the NFL. Why is that? They feel they wouldn't be as competitive. So they decide that they will discriminate in order to make a profit.
Funny, that they choose profit over non-discrimination but feel that people with religious views should set those aside for sake of not "discriminating".
Come on NFL. Why do you discriminate for money?
Considering that Governor Brewer (very belatedly) vetoed this bill, why are you even proposing this question?
Should businesses be allowed not to hire older people and obese people?
It's a fact that older people and obese people miss more work. Since they "perform" better at work, just like some athletes perform better in their job, shouldn't businesses be allowed to hire the best performers, just like the NFL? If the NFL can hire the best receiver, shouldn't a business owner be allowed to skip over the older employees, the heavier employees and the employees without an accent?
Please explain how an employee being older, heavier, or speaking with an accent causes him/her to "perform" worse.

I can't stop laughing now. Just because a Governor vetos a bill the issue brought up goes away right?
Please explain then, why so many issues are still relevant without some Governor approving a bill? Somehow the absence of laws for a specific issue means the issue goes away.
Quick, someone tell all the legislatures that if they don't create any laws, then the issues addressed by those laws disappear. All this time and no one else figured that out.

Here is a little civics lesson for you. When the President vetoes a bill, congress can override that veto with a two-thirds vote. It is the same for Arizona. The Arizona Constitution mimics the US Constitution in many ways, including vetoes being overridden.

Do you believe or not believe that a older employee or a heavier employee misses more work than younger or thinner employees?
If you don't believe this is the case, please indicate that, and I'll post links to the studies that show it.
As far as people with accents go, I'm not sure if there are any studies, but I'd say life experience demonstrates that people with accents will many times have to repeat themselves or be misunderstood which can cause lower performance in many situations. Let's address this one after we come to a conclusion on the older employees and the obese.
