nd they have another baby who is lucky she was not murdered as well. Sterilization is vastly under rated for people like this, although he should spend the rest of his sorry life in prison.

What the heck is wrong with people. I don't even know what to say about this kind of insanity.

I wonder why it was only 3rd degree murder? He'll probably be out in 10 years.

Manhood is wasted by giving a family to those that are not decent or human men.

Horrible.

Dads and moms kill kids daily, it's unfortunate, and not always predictable.

I think because he didn't actually intend to kill. He covered the baby's mouth for several minutes to spook it, then put it down somewhere before it asphyxiayed. He didn't check on it for several hours afterwards so it unfortunately qualifies as just negligence.

In college, I rented an apartment next door to an unmarried couple. The guy was verbally and physically abusive. For some reason I will never understand, the woman decided to have his baby. One day I was at home cleaning and heard the baby crying. This man was screaming and swearing at the top of his lungs at the baby (she was about six months old). I wasn't sure what to do but doing nothing wasn't an option in my mind. I finally went to knock on the door and asked if he needed help with the baby. He let me into the apartment and I changed and fed the baby while he took a nap. I stayed there about five hours so he could rest. Yes, I realize that he could have harmed me, but I could not live with myself if I let him harm his baby. After that, he seemed to make more of an effort with his baby as I didn't hear him screaming and throwing things as much as before that day.

Parents don't come with a "How To" manual and while some things should be common sense, a completely dependent human being can be overwhelming for the immature and unstable. It's kind of pathetic that we have to pass a test to get a driver's license, complete a background check to get most jobs and fill out a mountain of paperwork to buy a house, but anybody can be sent home with a newborn. Yet, the other side of that is more government involvement in our lives and, historically, that doesn't seem to solve too many social issues.
